Neat To Know

As-Sirat (The Bridge)

The thin hair-like, sharp bridge that is above hellfire that everyone must cross after the judgement is cast on the day of judgement. For people who have followed the message of Allah (SWT) and the sunnah of Muhammad (SAW), they will be able to easily cross this bridge and for those who did not, they will suffer while crossing and fall into the hellfire.

Baitul Ma'mur

Is the equivalent of the Ka’bah and serves the same purpose but for the angels instead. It is said to be located directly above the Ka’bah but in the highest heaven. 70,000 angels pray at the Baitul Ma’mur daily and these angels never return to it again. Everyday a new group of 70,000 angels pray at the Baitul Ma’mur.

Jannah-tul Firdaus

This is the highest level of Jannah or heaven. When we pray to Allah we should always ask for the highest reward we can get which is Jannah-tul Firdaus. The prophet (SAW) himself taught us to ask for this.

Ka'bah (Baitul Allah / House of Allah)

Known to be the house of Allah, where all Muslims must go to perform hajj / pilgrimage in Mecca Saudi Arabia. Ibrahim (AS) and his son Isma’il (AS) built the Ka’bah when Allah commanded it to Ibrahim (AS).

ZamZam Well

Holy water that has started flowing out of the ground since Jibreel (AS) struck the ground beneath the feet of Isma’il (AS). It has been over 4000 years and the ZamZam well is still continuously supplying water to this very day.

Masjid Al-Aqsa

This masjid / mosque was built by Ibrahim (AS) who used to live in Palestine. It was named Masjid Al-Aqsa by Ibrahim (AS) and he called it the farthest masjid; located in Jerusalem. This masjid was also used by Yaqub (AS) until he moved to Egypt (note: the story of why he moved is very moving and one of my favorites). The children of Yaqub (AS) are referred to as Bani Israel in the Quran. Many generations later, after Musa (AS) had passed, Allah (SWT) chose Dawud (AS) as the next prophet and he established his kingdom in Palestine. He had a son who was also a prophet, Sulaiman (AS) who re-built Masjid Al-Aqsa. Then we jump to thetime of prophet Muhammad (SAW) when initially they used to pray facing Masjid Al-Aqsa. Masjid Al-Aqsa was also the masjid the prophet (SAW) went to during the night of the Mi’raj. Masjid Al-Aqsa was claimed by Umar (RA) and brought under Muslim control. However, later due to corruption in the appointed leaders, the masjid was lost to the Crusaders. Muslims later reclaimed Masjid Al-Aqsa under the commander Salahuddin Ayuubi. Masjid Al-Aqsa is currently under Israel’s control since the mid 1900s. This is one reason for the severe conflict between Israel and Palestine happening currently. (note: search Palestine map to see how lands belonging to Muslims in Palestine are being taken away and how Muslims are suffering due to the conflict between Palestine and Israel.)

Heart to Heart: if this is the farthest masjid in this world / dunya it must be the closest masjid to Allah (SWT).
