Standard Salah Phrases

Allahu akbar = Allah is most great

Subhana rabi yal a’dzeem = Glory to my lord, the magnificent

Subhana rabi yal a’ala = Glory to my lord, the most high

Sami allahu liman hamidah = Allah listens to those who praise him

Rabbana lakal hamd = Oh lord, all praise be to you

Allahummag firelee warhamni = Oh Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me

Note: you can add “wah-dhenee warzuqni wa’afenee” after warhamni
and guide me and provide for me and save me

As-salaamu al-laikum wa rahmathulla = May peace and mercy of Allah be upon you

Surah Fatiha Transliteration

1. Alhhamdu lillahe rab-bil a’aalameen
2. ar-rahmaan nir-raheem
3. maaleke yaomid-deen
4. e-yaaka na’a-budu wa e-yaaka nasta-a’een
5. eh-dinas sweraa thal-mustaqeem
6. sweraa thal-lazeena ana’amta a’alaihem
7. ghairil-magh-dwuube a’alaihem wa ladwaaaa leeen, ameen

Surah Fatiha translation:
1. Praise be to Allah, lord of all worlds
2. the most beneficent, the most merciful
3. master of the day of judgement/recompense
4. you alone we worship and you alone ask for help
5. guide us on the straight path
6. the path of those upon whom you have bestowed favor
7. not of those who earned your anger or those who have gone astray, ameen

Standard Duas in Salah

Note: Below are the rest of the duas necessary for prayer. I will be adding the Arabic version later.

Subhaanaka allahum-ma wa bi-hamdika wa tabaarak-kasmuka wa ta’ala jadduka wa laa ilaha ghairuk

Meaning of Subhanaka allahumma wa bi-hamdika …
~Glory be to you O Allah (SWT) and praise be to you, and blessed be your name, and exalted be your majesty, and there is none worthy of worship except you.

At-tha hhe-yaathu lillaahi was-swalawaatu wat-twai-yebaatu as-salaamu a’alaika ayyuhan-nabeyu wa rahhmatul-laahi wa barakaatuh as-salaamu a’alainaa wa a’ala e’baadl-laah-hes-swaaleheen ashhadu al-laa ilaha illalaahu wa ash hadu an-na Muhammadan a’abduhu wa rasulu

Meaning of atta hiyathu lillahi… (Tashahhud)
~All the compliments, prayers and goodness are due to Allah (SWT), peace be upon you O prophet (SAW), and the mercy and blessing of Allah (SWT), peace be upon us and on the true pious servants of Allah (SWT), I bear witness that none have the right to be worshipped but Allah (SWT) and I bear witness that Muhammad (SAW) is the servant and messenger of Allah (SWT).

Allahuma swali a’ala Muhammadin wa a’ala ali Muhammad kamaa swal-layeeta a’ala Ibrahima wa a’ala ali Ibrahim in-naka hhamidum-majeed

Meaning of allahumma swalli a’la Muhammdin… (Darood sharif)
~O Allah (SWT) send prayers upon Muhammad (SAW) and upon the family of Muhammad (SAW), as you sent prayers upon Ibrahim (AS) and the family of Ibrahim (AS), you are the praised and the glorious.

Allahuma baarik a’ala Muhammadin wa a’ala ali Muhammad kamaa baarak-ta a’ala Ibrahimawa a’ala ali Ibrahim in-naka jjamidum-majeed

Meaning of allahumma barik a’la Mhuammadin… (Darood sharif)
~O Allah (SWT) send blessings upon Muhammad (SAW) and upon the family of Muhammad (SAW), as you sent prayers upon Ibrahim (AS) and the family of Ibrahim (AS), you are the praised and the glorious.

Allahuma in-ni zwalamtu nafsi zulman kas-seer-an walayagh-firuz-zunuba il-la anta fagh-firlee magh-firatam min e’ndika war-hamni in-naka antal gafoor-rur raheem

Meaning of allahumma inni zwalamthu nafsi…
~O Allah (SWT) I have greatly wronged myself , there is none to forgive the sins but you, so grant me your forgiveness and have mercy on me, you are the most forgiving and the merciful

Dua E-Qunoot

Note: Below is a dua said on the third rakath of witre wajib prayer of I’sha. After saying a surah on the third rakath you have to release your hands and re-establish the position with your hands by saying takbir (Allahu Akbar). Then say the dua below.

Allah humma inna nasta-e’enuka wa nastagh firuka wa nu’ minubika wa natawakkalu a’laika wa nusni a’laikal khair, wa nash-kuruka wala nakfuruka wa nakhla-o’o wa natruku mai yaf-juruka, Allah humma iyyaka na’budu wa laka nusal-li wa nasjudu wa ilaika nas-a’a, wa nah-fizu wa narju rahma taka wa nakhshaa a’zaa-baka inna a’zaa-baka bil kuffaa rimul-hhiq

Meaning:
O Allah, we implore you for help and beg forgiveness of you and believe in you and rely on you and extol you and we are thankful to you and are not ungrateful to you and we alienate and forsake him who disobeys you. O Allah, you alone do we worship and for you do we pray and prostrate and we betake to please you and present ourselves for the service in your cause and we hope for your mercy and fear your chastisement. Undoubtedly, your torment is going to overtake infidels.
